Impressive History of Ballarat with the most talked about nuggets

The ‘Gold Museum’ is located across the road from Sovereign Hill, you cannot miss it, it is a glass-fronted building with an unusual architectural design.

As you walk towards the museum, you will notice a bronze statue of the Premier of Victoria - ‘Sir Henry Bolte’. Entry to the Gold Museum is free with your Sovereign Hill ticket, so be sure to make time to go to the museum… after all, you have already paid for it but you must show your Sovereign Hill ticket at the desk before entry.

However, if you specifically came to see the Gold Museum, separate entry is also available but I do not know the cost. The Gold Museum is like a continuation to the history of Sovereign Hill with a massive collection of artefacts and photographs.

You would be pleasantly surprised to see the most talked about nuggets, they are impressive replicas of the “Welcome Nugget” and “Welcome Stranger Nugget” displayed and enclosed in a glass frame.

Check for times for a guided tour or just simply do it at your own pace. The museum is nicely laid out, with views outside, air conditioned for comfort and seats, quite spacious to walk around and a gift shop.
