Sydney Festival is due to end 29th January 2017
and I have managed to squeeze in another perfect opportunity to visit
Sydney.
My main focus was at Hyde Park – after seeing ‘House of Mirrors’
I did notice there were lots of other “free” activities
and shows to see there.
If you want to just chill out or be active, I
highly recommend ‘Soul of Sydney’. It is on Sunday afternoon from 12pm to 5pm
– only one left to go for January, so be quick! This is where they play
funky soul music where everyone is invited
to join in… or not. I quite enjoyed watching the crew and audience get
into that “soul groove”, very entertaining indeed.
Although I wasn’t
part of the action, I did catch myself tapping my feet to the beat of
their selected music – you just can’t help it.
This all happens at Hyde Park, not too far from ‘House of Mirrors’.
There is this roped off section to enter the “Village” – left side to
enter and right side to exit.
Anyone under the age of 18 years, must be
accompanied by an adult because in that roped
off section, they do serve alcohol. That area is well thought and
planned out. They have small vans that cater food, drinks (alcohol and
non-alcohol) and ice-cream. I couldn’t help myself, I had to get myself
an ice-cream from ‘Cow and the Moon Artisan Gelato’,
the line-up was long but well worth the wait – I didn’t really wait in
the line that long.
My advice… get the two scoops, one scoop is $6 and
two scoops is $8, I bought Cookies & Cream and Hazelnut Chocolate –
very tasty. Oh… you can even have a topping for
an extra $1 if you wish.
The toilet facilities are not too far from the
‘Village Stage’, it’s on the right of the stage and walk a little
further, where you will see a sign ‘Toilets’ – lots of clean toilets
there to cater for a large crowd with basins – I
was quite impressed, far better than those dodgy port-a-loo back in my
old days.
Give this event a go – lots of entertainment and family
friendly. It won’t even harm your budget unless you go crazy with their
ice-creams! But hurry, 29th January 2017 is their
last event… in Hyde Park that is, they do share their ‘soul’ music elsewhere, so it’s not the last show for the crew.
